Shipping via Freight

Two of the models I offer - the Polar Lights 1:350 Enterprise Refit (or Enterprise-A) and the Polar Lights 1:350 Original Series Enterprise are very large and fragile models. Even though they are sturdily constructed, unfortunately I have found that typical carriers such as UPS, FedEx, and USPS do not handle the shipment carefully enough to protect from damage. No matter how well the model is packaged and regardless of "Fragile!" markings on the package, the boxes are not treated with the care necessary to prevent damage. I have been told that any packages sent via those carriers will likely be stacked and are put on 3-story conveyors.

Consequently, I have found that the safest way to transport these particular models is to ship them via freight (usually FedEx Freight). They are packaged in very large boxes and *then* placed in larger containers and put on plats. The freight company will call to schedule delivery.

So, while it is quite expensive, it is more than worthwhile to protect the investment put into building the model - not only the cost of the model to you, but also the time and resources invested in it on my end.
