WIP: 1:350 Scale NCC-1701 Refit (Jonathan)

This version of the famous starship is the refit first seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

The model is lighted with a lighting kit built by Trekmodeler.

I am also using photo etch details made by Paragrafix.

Last update: 04/04/2024 *COMPLETED*

This is where I usually start...with the shuttle/hangar bay. I first attach the photo-etch details and then paint the walls and floor.

Sequential running lights installed under the shuttle bay floor.

Assembly of shuttle bay.

Officers' lounge almost done and arboretum in progress.

Update 01/16/2023:

More work on arboretum.

01/15/2023 update:

Using the same photo here for all 4 builds I'm working on. These pieces are the hardest ones to paint in the whole kit. They are clear parts and it takes a lot of fine detailing and just the right light to see where the lines, indentions, etc., are. I painted 8 of these - 2 for each model.

Update 02/26/2023

Shuttles installed in the shuttle bay.

Update 04/18/2023

Update 04/23/2023

Update 08/21/2023

Long overdue update. Work on the neck. Attaching the forward section of the secondary hull. Putting it all together.

Update 01/21/2024

The severe cold has prevented me from doing the painting I was hoping to have done by now, so I'm doing what I can. Attached the shuttle bay/stern frame piece after finishing it, then started prepping the saucer for lighting. This requires lots of cutting and drilling. I attached the sides and am working on sealing with steel epoxy and will then apply putty to gaps.

Update 01/29/2024

Putting down aztec pattern masks and then painting.... More to come soon.

Update 02/03/2024

More photos of progress on the secondary hull.
